Methylotrophs bacteria are ubiquitous, and they have the ability to consume single carbon (C1) which makes them biological conversion machines. It is first study find facultative methylotrophic in contaminated soils Iraq. Conventional PCR was employed amplify MxaF that encodes methanol dehydrogenase enzyme. DNA templates were extracted from isolated five sites Basra. The gene specific detected Methylorubrum extorquens as most dominant species these environments. of M. degrade aliphatic hydrocarbons compound tested at laboratory. Within 7 days, gas chromatographic (GC) studies remaining utilized crude oil revealed 61.14 % initial content had been degraded, GC fingerprinting compounds significant reductions C12, C13, C14, C15. Globally this time found a new strain has compound. sequencing presence facilitative polluted areas showed substantial an important tool be bioremediation.
